Just as he gets ready to leave office, Tony Blair has received the following e-petition asking for the postponement of the Eurocodes:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Provide nationwide free training and assistance with implementation of the Eurocodes to all members of the professional institutions. Extend the co-existence period of BS's and Eurocodes to a sensible minimum of 10 years, say. Allow the continued use indefinitely of British Standards for UK local engineering designs.
However, I don't think this will be taking up too much of the PM's time - the petition (which can be viewed at petitions.pm.gov.uk/Eurocodes/) has been signed by just 58 people (that's one person for each of the 58 parts of the Eurocodes). And of the these, only five petitioners are willing to reveal their professional qualifications. Do they not see the big picture?
